Crassisporus is a recently described genus in the polyporoid core clade, currently comprising C. imbricatus, C. leucoporus, C. macroporus, C. microporus, C. minutus and C. molissimus, with distribution in Asia, North America and Oceania. Based on morphological and molecular analysis of the ITS, LSU and TEF1 regions of rDNA, material collected in Brazil was placed in Crassisporus, representing C. amazonicus, a new species, and C. byrsinus, a newly proposed combination. In addition, the genus is reported for the first time from Africa and South America, and a table with the characteristics of the species of Crassisporus is presented.

Keywords: Amazonian, Coriolopsis byrsina, Polyporaceae, taxonomy. – 1 new species.
