Gutermann W. 2009. Notulae nomenclaturales 26–28 (Zur Nomenklatur dreier Festuca-Arten der Alpen. [Notulae nomenclaturales 26–28 (On the nomenclature of three Alpic Festuca species)]. – Phyton (Horn, Austria) 49 (1): 1–7.

Careful analysis of the particular protologues has proved that some recent nomenclatural changes in Festuca were incorrect: (26) The basionym of F. calva (Hackel) K. Richter is a legitimate combination; hence the author of the epithet-bringing name must appear as ‘bracket author’. (27) It is shown that the supposed earlier homonym “F. nigricans” in Schur‘s Enumeratio is just an invalid orthographic error for F. nigrescens Lam.; therefore F. melanopsis Foggi & al. is a superfluous name for F. nigricans (Hackel) K. Richter, the hexaploid Alpic representative of the F.’violacea group. (28) The name “F. quadriflora” recently used in several floras for the widespread Alpic species F. pumila Chaix is a phantom name of what Honckeny had designated invalidly as „[Festuca] Hall[eri] III. quadrifl[ora]” in addition to “[Festuca] Halleri I.” and “[Festuca] Hall[eri] II. septiflora”.
