Othocallis monanthos (C. KOCH) SPETA, often mistaken, was rediscovered not far from the ,,locus classicus“ at Ovit pass in NE-Turkey. The plants were found in perfect agreement with the description of C. KOCH displaying a chromosome number of 2n = 12. However, the karyotype of O. monanthos did not reflect its extensive morphological similarity to O. mischtschenkoana (GROSSH.) SPETA. The species belongs to the species complex of O. siberica (ANDR.) SPETA.
