Summary
Kolanowska M., Lipinska M. & Szlachetko D. L. 2016. Two new species of Cryptocentrum (Orchidaceae-Vandoideae-Maxillariinae) from Colombia. – Phyton (Horn, Austria) 56(2): 267–276, with 6 figures.
Two new species of Cryptocentrum are described and illustrated based on Colombian plant material. Cryptocentrum vallecaucanum Kolan., Lipin´ska & Szlach., spec. nova is characterized by the low number of sheaths enclosing the peduncle, the extremely short lip and relatively small petals. Cryptocentrum schlechterianum Kolan., Lipin´ska & Szlach., spec. nova can be easily distinguished from the most similar taxa by having non-imbricating tubular sheaths on the peduncle, shorter leaves, smaller flowers and much shorter spur and floral bracts. The taxonomic affiliations of both novelties is briefly discussed. A key for the identification of the 13 Colombian species of Cryptocentrum Benth. is included.
