Viola cassinensis subsp. lucana (Violaceae), a new subspecies from the Lucanian Apennine, southern Italy

Viola cassinensis subsp. lucana subsp. nova (Violaceae) is described and illustrated from Basilicata (southern Italy). Morphology, habitat and ecology are reported. This new taxon belonging to the Viola calcarata group is endemic to the Lucanian Apennine (southern Italy). It is compared with the similar taxa V. cassinensis subsp. cassinensis and V. cassinensis subsp. pseudogracilis.
