The new genus Roselymyces is established based on morphological and molecular analyses. Roselymyces brasiliensis gen. et sp. nov. is characterized by conidiophores with a lobed basal cell, polyblastic, sympodial conidiogenous cells, and chains of naviculate to subcylindrical conidia. Maximum Likelihood and Bayesian analysis using combined internal transcribed spacer region (ITS) and partial large subunit (LSU) of the nuclear rRNA gene region places Roselymyces on an isolated clade as sister to Cylindrium, Polyscytalum, Pseudoidriella and Tristratiperidium within the Xylariales.

Keywords: asexual fungi, molecular phylogeny, taxonomy, tropical fungi.
