Ebrahimi L. & Fotouhifar Kh.-B. (2015) First report of Cyphellophora fusarioides (Chaetothyriales) on a plant host (Peperomia magnoliifolia). – Sydowia 68: 131–137.

An isolate of Cyphellophora that was recovered from a plant host (Peperomia magnoliifolia) in Iran is described using morphological and molecular data. This isolate is characterized by cylindrical, occasionally flask-shape phialides, usually intercalary, with a conspicuous, internal or lateral, flared collarette, and straight to falcate, acicular, (6)12–22(30) × 1.5–2.5(3) µm, 1–3-septate conidia. The ITS regions of the ribosomal RNA gene were amplified and used for phylogenetic studies. The investigated Isolate showed high similarity to C. fusarioides. This species is distinguished from related species mainly by conidial dimensions and septa. This is a first report of C. fusarioides from Iran and also the first isolation of this species from plant materials in the world.

Keywords: ITS, morphology.
