new species Russula pallidula from China. – Sydowia 71: 1–10.
Russula pallidula, sp. nov., a new species from southern China, is morphologically delimited, illustrated and its relationship specified by phylogenetic analysis. It is characterized by pale green to pale olive-buff pileus with minute white to cream scales and longitudinal stripes at margin, safrano-pink and rarely forked lamellae, globose to subglobose basidiospores with bluntly conical warts, clavate to subclavate to fusiform cheilocysitidia and pleurocysitidia with variably rounded tips, and a pileipellis with inflated hyphal terminations and slender pileocystidia. Molecular phylogenetic analysis of nrITS, rpb2, and nrLSU sequences indicate that R. pallidula belongs to Russula subg. Heterophyllidia sect. Virescentinae.
Keywords: Russulaceae, morphology, phylogeny, taxonomy. 1 new species.
